Why I Write

This is a place for people who are tired of pretending.

Life is beautiful. It is also confusing. Sometimes heartbreaking. Sometimes hilarious. Usually all of those things at once.

I started writing because I realized there were so many thoughts I carried around that didn’t seem to have a place to land.

Writing became that place.

Not because I have everything figured out. Quite the opposite. Most of these essays begin with a question rather than an answer. They’re my way of slowing down long enough to notice what life is trying to teach me.

If you’ve ever felt like you’re still becoming…still healing…still questioning…still laughing in the middle of hard things…you’re in good company here.

A cozy, lived-in living room with a homey and welcoming atmosphere. On a wooden coffee table sits an open book and a leather-bound journal with a pen. The scene is bathed in warm, soft natural light streaming through a window. The room shows signs of life—a soft throw blanket draped over a comfortable armchair in the background, a few stray coasters, and a small potted plant. It's the perfect, imperfect spot for a reader and a writer to spend an afternoon.

About Me

I’m Maggie. I lead a Christian academy by day and write whenever life gives me something I can’t stop thinking about.

I believe healing rarely happens all at once. I think honesty is kinder than perfection.

I love long walks, good books, Coke, fries, John Mayer, true crime documentaries, and conversations that go a little deeper than most people expect.

More than anything, I hope these essays help someone feel a little less alone. I think that’s what good writing does.

Welcome.

I’m really glad you’re here.
